Right Path to Learning — New Year Update

Happy New Year! We are excited to share highlights from 2022, where Right Path to Learning has supported student literacy growth in partnership with Oakland Public Schools and Sylvan Learning. We have continued to build our organization, sustain partnerships and directly support student learning.

On October 31, 2022, Encompass Academy celebrated literacy with a Reading Parade and Rally. Students, from Kindergarten through 5th grade, created posters, class chants, and movements highlighting the joy of reading. A reading parade started off the morning followed by  games, word competitions and each class’ creations. Right Path to Learning board members, along with our partners from Sylvan Learning, were there to cheer on the students.

Our very own board member, Barbara Mahan showed up dressed as the Book Fairy! Barbara donated, collected and delivered over 500 books to the school. Boxes of carefully curated books were delivered to each classroom with the intention that each student go home with a book in hand. All in all, it was a joyful celebration of reading and an example of Right Path to Learning’s commitment to student achievement and literacy.

Other organizational highlights from 2022:

  • Applied and received our Federal 501(c)(3) tax exempt status and state 3500a tax exempt status
  • Onboarded new Right Path To Learning(RPTL) board members
  • Updated our website and optimized RPTL for Google searches
  • Applied and were approved for a $10,000 Google grant ads

Looking forward, on January 23rd, eighteen primary school students will begin after school literacy classes with Sylvan Learning.
